Digital Experimentation.

Here are a couple of photos I took and edited with the help of Mocking Bird's tutorial. One looks a bit more yellow than the other, but I enjoyed playing with the channels. I found her tips extremely helpful and I had loads of fun roaming around my garden yesterday.

Pitch a Tent.

I really want to go camping, sit under the stars, roast marshmallows, and listen to music like this:

Wedding Entrance Dance.

This is the most epic wedding entrance I've seen yet. It really made me smile, so I felt the need to post it.

Soft Glow.

I stumbled across the page of Young from Denmark last week and I just adore the way she takes pictures. See more of her lovely photography over at her blog.

Arty Party: Keri Smith

I am going crazy over the work of Keri Smith! It was so difficult to choose what to post because her style is so diverse, and everything she makes is beautiful. Definitely check out her blog. She has so many great sets on Flickr, but I think my favorite is Fun with Stickers. It really made me smile. You can also send free e-postcards that she made via Chronicle Books.

Arty Party: Kevin Van Aelst.

The Heart, 2009

Common Clouds, 2007

Periodic Table of the Elements, 2005

"My color photographs consist of common artifacts and scenes from everyday life, which have been rearranged, assembled, and constructed into various forms, patterns, and illustrations. The images aim to examine the distance between the ‘big picture’ and the ‘little things’ in life—the banalities of our daily lives, and the sublime notions of identity and existence. This work is about creating order where we expect to find randomness, and also hints that the minutiae all around us is capable of communicating much larger ideas."

I just adore the way Kevin Van Aeslt uses food and every day objects in unique ways to create an entirely new object or idea.

You can read more about his work here.

B-Sides.

Here is the Fleet Foxes b-side track to White Winter Hymnal. In love with the lyrics and the song. I have both of their albums, but today was the first time I've heard this. Makes me think of cool summer evenings, much like tonight.

Mysterious Snail Mail.

In April 2009, we sent a personal, handwritten letter to each of the 467 households in the small Irish village of Cushendall. We hoped these unsolicited letters would prompt neighbourly discussion, spreading across the town, promoting community curiosity.

-Lenka Clayton & Michael Crowe

I think this is such a lovely idea. People rarely get regular mail these days, and what a fun way to spark a discussion about it! I can see how it might have been a bit unnerving for some people, but I still think there were lovely intentions behind the project.
