Stumbled upon the works of Danny Roberts earlier, and I just think his stuff is amazing. Maybe a modern day Egon Schiele? The images posted here are from his Blogger Portrait Series, although you can find many more lovely works on his blog.
Ok, the new video for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Heads Will Roll is kind of gruesome, but totally rad. The red paper and glitter at the end is clever and cool. LOVING IT.
So, in honor of the summer, one of my favorite mags, NYLON, is giving away 22 free songs. Just click here and it will take you to the iTunes store. This playlist is definitely worth a listen, featuring everything from of Montreal to Passion Pit. Check it out! It's FREE, after all. I hope you enjoy!
Saw the works of Aurel Schmidt on Booooooom earlier this week. She's the featured artist on the site this week, and rightly so. Her work is so ephemeral and calming - I'm just amazed by it.
I'm completely amazed by these fixed gear bikes by Brick Lane designer Benedict Radcliffe. While I'm gushing about bikes, check out these tricks by Danny MacAskill. He just takes everything to a whole new level.
Both found on the wonderful It's Nice That. If you don't read this blog you should take a look. It's one of my favorites.
"Art in its execution and direction is dependent on the time in which it lives, and artists are creatures of their epoch. The highest art will be that which in its conscious content presents the thousandfold problems of the day, the art which has been visibly shattered by the explosions of last week, which is forever trying to collect its limbs after yesterday's crash." -Richard Huelsenbeck
Throw Me the Statue is an indie rock band from Seattle, and they actually remind me a lot of Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. This is the video for their single, "Lolita." Apparently they just released a new EP entitled "Purple Face," which I really need to get my hands on. This band definitely sounds like summer to me! Give their only album Moonbeams a listen some time. Can't wait to blast them as I drive through rural Pennsylvania...
Love these sweet rides from Amelia Magazine. My bike obsession will never end, I swear. Can't wait to go home and see my adorable sister riding in fixed-gear glory. I'm sure it'll be a hip and cute sight.
I'm not denying the effects of Mercury Retrograde (I'm not into horoscopes, really, but this cracks me up) any longer, so here's my little homage to space.
These business cards by Oliver Munday are probably the greatest business cards I've ever seen. I would love to advertise myself to people by just giving them a card that said "OMG." Definitely an attention-grabber. Too bad my initials don't quite compare...
I can't believe I haven't posted this video yet - I've been listening to it almost nonstop for a week now. It's Beach House at SXSW, and it's pretty much my favorite piece of music at the moment. They are performing a song called Norway, which hopefully will be released on their third album. It's not available in .mp3 format yet, but I'm hoping they'll release it as a single in the near future. Good things are definitely in store for this band!
Love these nonsense charts by Flickr user, 1 chord & a fib. They don't even reference anything, but the colors are brilliant and really, they're just pleasant to look at.
